On Thursday October 4th 2018 at 12:31am my amazingly strong sister, Carlyn, gave birth to her beautiful baby boy Bodee* William Lamport. How perfect is he!?!? And I gotta say Carlyn looks beautiful for having been in labour for over 24 hours and most of that was all natural (sans drugs). She is a champ.

*Pronounced the same way as the American skier, Bode Miller.

Carlyn and Bodee at 12 hours old

For those of you who don't know my sister, she is as tiny as can be. Even at 40 weeks pregnant she was ALL tummy. Looking at these pics below it still amazes me how our bodies are made to grow little humans. I didn't think a belly could stretch that much but life most things Carlyn proved me wrong. She rocked her pregnancy and I know she'll be the best mama in the world.

Carlyn was due on Sept 26th so she delivered 1 week and 1 day late. Man was that waiting period painful! I'm pretty sure Carlyn received a million text messages from me asking 'how are you doing?' 'Any action yet?' If I didn't get a response within 5 mins, I thought that was it! She is in labour! Finally on Wednesday morning she texted me and my other sister, Dee to tell us she was 6CM dilated and going to the hospital. wooohoo! We thought we were getting a niece/nephew that day. We contemplated driving out to Waterloo so we could be there when the baby arrived but things seemed to be progressing slowly so we played the waiting game from home (after all I did have my daughter to consider ;)). My parents decided to go to Waterloo so they were giving us the play by play. Finally around 11:00pm I called it quits and went to bed. Still no baby.

Around 2am on Thursday I woke up to a text that the baby was here and mom and baby are healthy and doing great. I jump out of bed so excited. I had so many questions. 'Whats the sex?' 'Whats the name?' 'Can we Facetime?' They told me I had to wait until I met the baby in person to find out all the details. I got this picture below and that was it! It killed me not knowing!!! But I did the same to her when Draper was born so I guessed I deserved it.

That morning Draper and I woke up, got organized and made our way to Waterloo to meet Dee and parents at Carlyn & Robs house. After patiently waiting for an hour or so, Carlyn and Rob arrived home and introduced us to Bodee! I knew it, a boy!!! And oh my god was he cute. You can tell from the picture below how emotional I was meeting the little dude. It was a bit of a surreal moment meeting your sister/best friends son.

We spent a beautiful day together as a family snuggling little Bodee and helping Carlyn and Rob get set up in their home. Im sure all you parents can remember how tough the first couple of days are so having family there to help is so important.

Carlyn, Rob and Bodee are all doing great and settling into their new reality as a family. And while the sleep is limited the love and snuggles are endless and make it all worthwhile. And as for me, I am LOVING being an Auntie to a little boy. It's going to be so fun to watch Draper and Bodee grow up together.
