8 Months!!! Oh My Gawd. It's true what they say the days are long but the weeks/years are short. So new mamas, cherish each minute, each second with your little one. These last eight months have absolutely flown by. I cannot believe we are here getting ready to celebrate Draper's first Christmas.
So you want to know what we've been up to the last month? It's been a busy one...
Milestones & Memories
Draper had her first sleepover at Grammas away from mom and dad. I'm not going to lie I felt a weird pit in my stomach when I was saying goodbye to her but I was only 5 minutes away so I knew if anything went wrong I wasn't far. She killed it! She slept through the night and had a blast with Gramma and Grandpa. And mom and dad also loved the break. We had some friends over for dinner and drinks (mom drank too much wine) and we enjoyed a bit of a sleep-in.
We cut down Draper's first Christmas tree. Last year Diego and I started a tradition of getting on our snow gear and trekking it to pick and cut down our Christmas tree. This year we put Draper in the carrier and brought her to help. It was a perfectly warm winter day. Sun was shinning and Draper was having a lot of fun until she got a little tired and frustrated. Hence the pics.
Draper experienced her first Toronto Christmas Market with her guy pals (Jude and Howie). We showed them the big tree, walked around to see the vendors and of course stopped for a little lunch.
Draper also experienced her first Christmas party/brunch with my moms side of the family. She was the hit of the party in her cute outfit. #stylishbaby

Draper participated in her first annual JAL weekend. This is a weekend when I get together with my university roomies. We do christmas-y stuff, drink way too much wine, eat good food and talk about life. Draper loved hanging out with her aunties Jaquie & Ali.
Discoveries & accomplishments
Draper is sitting up and spinning around. She can scoot across the floor and is leaning over to get into crawling position but can't quite figure out how to get on all fours and crawl. I know when she can crawl its game over so I'm enjoying this time where I can leave her for a couple of minutes and know she will be in the same place when I get back.
She has learned how to take things out of a box and put them back in. It's her new favourite thing to do.
She's still 'chatting' up a storm but only saying 'dada'. We are working hard on 'mama'.
She loves to imitate us. If I stick my tongue out she will do the same. If I blow bubbles she'll try and do it too. We're having a lot of fun with this.
She recognizes herself in the mirror and still loves to stare at herself. I don't know where she gets it. ;)
This is more of an accomplishment for mom but we found her a home daycare that we absolutely loved so we reserved a spot for her next spring. What a mentally and emotionally hard process but after meeting Sandra or as the kids call her Tia we knew it was the right place.
Eating Habits
Our little piggy is eating on average 3 meals a day. Although I'm not sure how much food she is actually consuming. Most food ends up caught in her bib or on the floor. We started a new challenge! I am going to try and introduce 100 foods to her by the time she turns one years old. To date she has tried 33 different foods. That means we have 67 foods left to try with 17 weeks to go. WOW! You can follow along my journey on @made_to_mama Instagram stories or visit my 100 foods before one page :) We're having a lot of fun with it. Just recently she tried salmon and beef stew. My mom cannot believe that Draper will eat that kind of food. She said we didn't try salmon until we were about 10 years old.
Her favourites are still sweet potato, broccoli, eggs and clementines! She could eat clementines all day every day if I let her. And when she eats she flaps and twirls her hands because she gets so excited. It's the cutest thing ever. I hope she never looses her excitement for food because her parents are food obsessed.
She has also learned how to drink out of her 360 degree sippy cup! We're still working on learning how to use a straw but little wins right!?
Sleeping Habits
Not much has changed here. Draper is consistently napping two times a day (9am and 1:30pm). Her naps range from 45 mins to 2 hrs. By 6:30 she is absolutely exhausted and ready for bed and normally sleeps till 7ish. She often wakes up before 7am but as long as she is content I try and leave her in her crib until 7.
We've worked really hard to get into a good sleeping pattern and I find it's helped with our day! She is so much happier when she has good sleeps.
Favourites
Draper is obsessed with dogs. She is just fascinated by them and cannot take her eyes off them.
Loves playing peek-a-boo.
Likes to read with mom and her favourite books are the ones with peek-a-boo flaps that she can open.
Favourite song right now is 'If your happy and you know it clap your hands'. She will actually clap her hands when she hears it. My heart melts.
Grabbing peoples face (especially the eyes) and hair. She thinks its funny when you say ouchie.
Loves to sit and look at the christmas tree and all the twinkling lights.

Dislikes
Still does not like tummy time. The second I put her down on her tummy she flips to her back.
Does not like Santa clause. We met him for the first time and it was a disaster. Screamed and tried to get away but it made for the most hilarious photo.
She's still unsure about men. She even cried when the Amazon delivery guy came to our door.
Being away from mama. Separation anxiety is real my friends. Even if I leave the room for a minute she cries. Thank goodness for the sling because I find myself having to wear her a lot more than I did so she feels close to us.

Next month will be 2019. WOW! I wonder what will she be up to next...?
