Draper turned 7 months on Nov 4th so naturally I'm about a week late at writing this because well life. Also Draper is just getting over her first cold and I've been down and out for the last couple of days with the flu so it's been a rough week.
Before we begin this is not meant to be a "brag" post. I know each baby develops at their own pace so moms, let's not compare. Honestly, I'm just excited to share with you whats been going on in Draper's life these days. It's been a pretty crazy month so, let's start with the most exciting things (or at least to me).

Eating
She is eating like a champion. This kid loves food. I swear if I were to let her she would eat until she is sick to her stomach. We've taken the Baby Led Weaning approach mixed with a bit of purees and so far so good - no choking but lots of scary gagging! Her favourite food right now is sweet potato, mango, quinoa & veggie fritters and broccoli yes you heard me, broccoli. I think she takes after her mom and dad with her love for food.
She is also drinking water out of the 360 degree sippy cup by Munchkin. We have to hold the cup for her but she is able to drink the water on her own.
Sleeping
Draper continues to sleep like a Di Tolla. She goes down around 6:30/7pm and sleeps for approx. 12 hours. She is consistently having 2 naps during the day although her timing for those naps are all over the place. I know I need to be more consistent but ugh I hate being a slave to a schedule every day.
She has this little pink little lamb blankie that she can't sleep without. Right when I put her down to sleep in her crib she shoves it into her mouth and sucks on it. I'm not sure if this is healthy for a baby but I've tried taking it away and all hell breaks loose so this is what we do to survive.
Loves
Draper just found out how to clap her hands and now does this all day every day. She has this look of pride on her face when she claps that melts my heart.
She's finally starting to enjoy reading instead of just closing or eating the book. She loves this 'Happy Dog and Other Furry Friends' book and I would highly recommend it for any baby because not only is it funny it has touchable textures throughout.
Favourite part of the day is when dad comes home. She kicks her legs and flaps her hands at the sight of daddy. Its the cutest thing ever.
New favourite thing to do is swing on the baby swing at the park. It's getting colder so this is happening less frequently but it's so cute seeing her smile and flap her hands when she swings in the air.
Hates
Tummy time is still the enemy. She hates it with a passion. If I put her down on her tummy she lies there for maybe 15 seconds before rolling to her back. I've tried everything from positioning a mirror under her to letting her play with my phone but nothing works. So if you have any tips on how to get a 7 month old to do more and enjoy tummy time please share. Also question for the crowd, if your baby hates tummy time does this mean they wont crawl?
She's very unsure about men and people wearing hats. One time I came down from upstairs with a baseball hat on (because obviously I hadn't showered) and she screamed bloody murder. We're working on teaching her about hats. haha But Dad isn't too upset that she is not a fan of men. I think he's hoping the fear stays for many years to come.
This one makes me cry a bit inside but she hates snuggling. I try and force a snuggle here and there and she just pushes me away. I'm hoping this is a phase cause this mama misses those sweet snuggle moments. All you new moms enjoy those newborn snuggles because they don't last long.
Big Firsts
This not so little baby is now sitting up on her own and exploring everything in sight. We've had a couple of big tumbles and tears but for the most part she is super strong.
Her first word is dada. Although to be honest I am not sure if she says it on purpose or if its part of her baby babble. Either way, dad is happy and it's super cute to hear her trying to talk.
Draper became a proud older cousin on October 4th to Bodee William Lamport (my sisters baby). We've had a couple of play dates with the cousins but looking forward to watching them grow up together.
Draper celebrated her first halloween by dressing up as a duck and playing with her friends the giraffe, unicorn, and farmer. There is nothing cuter than babies in costumes. Am I right?
She also celebrated her first Thanksgiving with the family.
Overall Draper is a happy go lucky baby. This has got to be one of my favourite ages/phases. She has quite the big personality. I like to think she is sassy with a side of sweet. She is definitely a girly girl and is very sensitive. Every day with her just keeps getting better and better.
